The Brew Crew @ the OC BrewFest!

Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 Irvine, Ca. The OC BrewFest showcasing over 50 breweries from San Diego to Boston, Mass. Let me say, what a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, so much so, I am counting the days till next year! OC Firefighters helped put the event together as a non-profit event with proceeds, and admission going to help a charity of your choice, as well as support families effected by the tragedy in NYC on 9/11/01. VIP  Admission provided you with 12 tickets, good towards generous 4oz tastings from any of the 50 breweries.

The OC BrewFest took place in a little known area between Wild Rivers and Irvine Meadows, we called it Lion Country Safari. Nestled in between to large venues, the brew haha was in a perfect setting. Large palm trees, a tranquil pond, shaded places to relax, were a few of the wonderful landscapes to enjoy your tastings.  The day started with a Firestone Union Jack IPA, and ended with a Ballast Point Sculpin IPA…! One unlikely pairing was that of a chocolaty stout along with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream! WOW, not what I was expecting, it reminded me of scorching hot summers and a cool chocolate milk shake, but only this time with a nice “kick” that even a light beer connoisseur would enjoy for its sweet tastiness.

Just one more sip please, Mr. Adams.

As the day wound down, so did the tickets we had remaining on our wrists…leading to the inevitable…get more tickets to taste more beers! After about 14 “tastings” we  started making our way out, the 5 hour brew fest was ending and it was time to go.

Can’t wait for next year!
